Punctuation

I am not sure how to combine the following sentence.

Polymers used during plastic production are associated with health risks; and the vast majority of plastics are not biodegradable- resulting in landscape destruction, and imbalances in food chains.

-----

My punctuation with this sentence is off, but I'm not sure how to go about fixing it. I am talking about two things, and the results of those two things. I changed the text to red where I think the problem is, but I am not sure. Input is appreciated!

Thing 1: polymers used during plastic production are associated with health risks

Thing 2: the vast majority of plastics are not biodegradable: resulting in landscape destruction, and imbalances in food chains

Top answer

How about simply reversing it, like this? The vast majority of plastics are not biodegradable, resulting in landscape destruction and imbalances in food chains, and polymers used during plastic production are associated with health risks.
