What is the plural of cc? Is it cc's or just cc. E.g. To flush the IV use 5 cc's.

Hi! In Canada we rarely use the measurement ' cc' anymore except in speech. Instead, we use millilitres.

But, for those of us from 'the old school', we would write cc and cc's . Hope this helps. Anyone else have an example from their country????

How do you expect to flush anything with just 5 cc's of any liquid?

You need a lot of water or any other liquid in order to flush anything. How can you flush with only 5 cc's?

Hi, Lucy:
Well, for one thing, you can flush a saline lock with 3 cc's of normal saline. That's just one example. (Doesn't sound like you are a nurse....?)

cc
an alternate symbol for the cubic centimeter (cm3). This symbol is obsolete and should not be used; cm3 should be used in its place. The cubic centimeter is the same volume as the milliliter (mL or ml).

And for its plural, I think only cc is right, not cc's or ccs.
