Punctuating a ho

I recently had occasion to write the words "crack ho'". Would it not be more correct to write 'ho'?

As is the case with "ain't," this is an example of a nonstandard word which has a standard spelling. In addition, it has two standard spellings for the plural form.

When you're writing expressions like that, exactness of punctuation doesn't need to be too high on your list of concerns.

I'd favor the apostrophe after, because it fits the way it's pronounced. The only variation I wouldn't use is 'ho' (apostrophes both before and aft

I feel that the days of writing "ho" with an apostrophe, or two apostrophes, are over. Just one man's opinion.
I'm curious about why you didn't write "crack ***".

Does anyone out there maintain a distinction between "***" (professional) and "ho"
