Pulses racing, warm tone

His name figures among the top 10 personalities of the tinsel word listed by Filmfare. The other achievement he rates on equal footing is the mention of his work in Black in American Cinematography manual, deemed a Bible in Hollywood. Eminent director Govind Nihlani acknowledging his good work in Black and Time Magazine rating the same film among the top five, were moments to cherish. Time for an interaction with ace cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, who came perilously close to getting a National award for Kannathil Muthamittal. Tough luck for him when the entry was not sent for Ayudha Ezhuthu, inadvertently though. These mundane things hardly seem to disturb an individual, believing that 'you will not get a thing if it was not meant for you. In any profession, you miss some and win some. Many wondered if I was out of my mind to spurn the Devadas offer but that would have meant not keeping my commitment. As it transpired, Dil Chhata Hai set trend for a path-breaking film where my work won rave reviews. Much earlier, Ravi had sent the pulses racing using the warm tone of dexterous effect in Virasat. 'Creating a layer of colour and spectrum was the voluminous challenge in Black with every charactervisaulised in that form.'

Please explain to me the meaning of the emboldened parts.

Hi, I don't think this passage was written by a native speaker. send pulses racing - make people excited, ie increae their heart-rate warm tone - hard to say what this means. It could refer to the happy feeling inspired by the movie 'Virasat', or to the pleasing actual colours used in the camera work.
