Pull yourself together VS Hold yourself together

Hi

Are these idioms completely synonymous?

Pull yourself together and  Hold yourself together

Also, are these sentences natural?

Please hold/pull yourself together. We all need to be strong in a situation like this.
I was so angry that I just couldn't hold/pull myself together.

Lastly, can we drop together in these expressions?

Please hold yourself. We all need to be strong right now.

Thanks,

Tom

"pull yourself together" has a clearer implication that you have already "fallen apart", i.e. lost your confidence, composure, etc.

The word "together" is required in both.
