Hi

Could you please tell me if these two sentences are OK? Any suggestions are welcome.

He found himself completely embroiled in that messy situation. All he wished was to pull himself off.
He found himself completely embroiled in that messy situation. All he wished was to pull himself out (of it)

You can. I wouldn't, but maybe that's just personal preference.
