Pull forward - what does it acually mean?

Hi guys,

Is there any difference between pulling forward and just pushing?

Isn't pulling the act of actually moving sth towards yourself?

If you pull forward don't you just push?

Assume you are standing in front of me, facing me, a few inches away from me. If I put my hands on your chest and push , I am trying to move you backward, away from me. If I grab your shirt and pull , I am trying to move you forward, towards me.
