pull data and pool data

Hi, what is the difference between pull data and pool data? I often hear "pull/pool data from the system" but don't know which is the correct one, please help me. thank you.

This is just one example that I know of.
When analysing epidemiological data from large databases such as the GPRD (a UK database), pulling data refers to a specific "chunk" of data. Let's say you want to study prescription data from 2000 until 2010. You would purchase the rights to pull this data from the database.
After you have pulled the data, you would then filter out what you require

Pulling data from a database is searching the database for records with a certain criteria. For examples females between age 30 and 35 living in the UK that like cats. So you can send them e-mails about cat shoes
