Hi, I've found these sentences in a couple of dictionaries: Public outrage over the scandal eventually forced him to resign. His views accord with public opinion. Public opinion is gradually shifting in favor of the imprisoned men.
I noticed no articles were used in these sentences. Would it be correct to re-write them as follows:
[The] public outrage over the scandal eventually forced him to resign.
His views accord with [the] public opinion.
His views accord with [the public's] opinion.
Thanks!

" is OK. "... the public opinion" and "...

" is OK.
"...
the public opinion" and "...
the public's opinion" are not completely impossible, but "public opinion" (no article) is a common and familiar phrase, and deviations from it seem a little unexpected and unnecessary.
