"Provoke" plus clause

Dear Everyone,

What do you do if you need to put a verb after “provoke”? Can you put a “that” clause after it with a subjunctive?

E.g. He provoked that he himself be accused of the events.

Could you, please, let me know? Thank you!

"provoked that ..." isn't right. I think you will have to reword it, e.g. "He brought the accusations upon himself" (this is just one of potentially many suggestions).
