Provide for...

Hi,

I want to use this word in the sense of 'stipulate'.

Is it possible to use 'provide for that' to introduce a dependent clause rather than to simply place a noun after 'for'?

For example:

This Article provides for that the investigative authorities are obliged to...

Thanks.

Thank you Emotion: smile

Then the rule says 'provide for' must be followed by an object, not a subordinate clause?

I would not state it like that.

'provide' may take a FOR ... TO ... clause as its complement. (A FOR ... TO ... clause is a kind of subordinate clause.)
