Proverbs

Hi there teachers,

Would you kindly help me understanding the following proverbs/sayings? In what contexts or situations could we say these, please?

1) A thing is valued where it belongs
2) Do good, find good.
3) Good mind, good find.

4) To the good, the appears good.
5) The older the goose, the harder to pluck.

Also, do #2, #3, and #4 mean the same thing, please?

 Thank you all.

I've heard of none of these before, and they do not seem to have the authenticity of classic English idioms, proverbs or sayings. They seem like corporate slogans or perhaps translations from other languages. com/goose

Dear AlpheccaStars, I understand them in my native language (that is 'Hindi'). But I am having difficulties with the similarity between the meanings they convey. I appreciate your trying to help me, however. Thank you!

Every language and culture has its own unique proverbs and sayings. These are based on folklore, history and belief systems. Many times, they do not translate very well into other languages. That is symptomatic of the differences between the cultures.
