(That is my personal translation; is it sounds ok? )
In my opinion, the above proverb is an excellent reflection on the true meaning of public service. Even though the desk of a “post-soviet” public administrator is likely to be filled by Machiavellian-type of literature, I still believe that if you are involved in public sphere it is essential to sacrifice your time and efforts for the sake of all living in your country.
