Protect from the sun or sunshine??

Hi:

If I say "When you go out you should protect yourselves from the sun", I think the sentence should be correct. But if I say the same sentence using "sunshine" instead of "sun", is it correct? namly, is "protect yourselves from the sunshine" correct, if not, how should we express the same meaning with the word "sunshine". (In our native language of Chinese, both the words sun and sunshine are right.). Please explain. thanks very much!
