prosthetic

Yesterday after dinner, my wife and I were seating in the living room watching TV. The news was reporting a horse that had lost one of his front legs to disease and the best way was to put him down. My wife, who's an animal lover, forced me to call the owner the next day and offered to make the horse a prosthetic leg. So, I did. As an owner of a prosthetic limb company, I had made limbs for a long time but never once did I make a limb for a horse. I gave it a try and we sort of did it on a trial and error basis. We lucked out. He has got a second chance on life.

Are there any mistakes?
Thanks.

It should be 'sitting'. Philip missed this error.

I gave it a try and did it on a trial and error basis. (I would write ... trial-and-error basis.)
