Prospects minced

Hi, I know that minced has something to do with food but what it means here? maybe a methapor?

"Clinton consulted by phone with Kerry, who for months had seen his prospects minced by the Bush campaign and its conservative-media allies"

Top answer

Minced means chopped into small pieces. So it is being used as a metaphor here. Kerry's chances of success were being reduced by attacks upon him.
