Prospects and chances are similar in meaning - and mean opportunities or probability. Prospects is more formal. "Career prospects" = career opportunities (note that we never say "career chances".

"Career prospects" = career opportunities (note that we never say "career chances".

"What are the prospects of you getting the job"? = "what are the chances of you getting the job"? Both question the probability of getting the job.

they are synonyms just in one meaning (the probability of something happening), otherwise prospect is generally related to view and thus to forecast, and thus to chance.
