Propped up?

Hi,

What is the exact meaning of propprd up here? Is it the synonym of lean ?

Here it is:

"As Sally Stein points out, there is a recurrence in Lang's photography of a body that leans, a body that is propped up."

Thx

Greetings, Nesa, yes, it is similar to 'lean'. It means 'positioned more or less upright by leaning against something else'. Respectfully, Gleb Chebrikoff

I really appreciate your reply. I thought maybe it could be similar to loll. Am I right?

Yes, Nesa, they approximately signify the same thing, but with a difference: 'loll' has a slightly negative connotation, it means 'to recline, lean, or move in a lax, lazy, or indolent manner', as in

...knocks off for several days and lolls about in pajamas at homeE.P.Snow

...lolling about the beachOliver Herford

Dear friend,

I am really glad this really helped. You might also find these useful as substitutes for loll: 'idle , lounge , sprawl'.
