Proportionate or custom

Hi

A healthy stomach will produce a [proportionate/custom] amount of acid for each individual meal.

Is there a better word to use?

Thanks!

While "proportionate" is the better choice in your post, "appropriate" would be better choice, since it is not a size based production but a matter of suitability to the digestion process for that meal. Meat requires more acid than pudding, for example.
