Property Vs characteristics Vs attribute Vs. Quality

"property is an attribute of an object or an aspect of its behavior. "

Properties, characteristics, attributes and characteristics always give me trouble.

Are they all equivalent in the above example?

Property is an attribute.....

Aren't property and attribute the same thing?

I know they are synonyms but I would really appreciate your help if you could explain the difference in those words.

Thank you in advance!
