Proper Use of the Word "Foregoing"

"As I mentioned in the foregoing paragraph, inflation will rise."

"As in the foregoing paragraph, inflation will rise."

I ask because when I typed "As I mentioned in the foregoing paragraph" it brought back only four results. While when I wrote "As in the foregoing paragraph" I received over 3.5 million results. But "As in the foregoing paragraph" sounds lacking.
Any advice on how to use this word and which sentence is correct?

Excellent. Thank you for your help. "Foregoing" is a word I rarely see used so I wanted to know how to correctly use it. Thank you!

You will see 'previous' much more frequently.

Yes, "previous" "preceding" "former"... all much more common. But I think in academic writing "foregoing" sounds more appropriate. Interestingly, the word can used as a noun or adjective.
