Proper use of Free and Gift?

Hello,

I'm working on copy for an advertisement in which we're giving away something. I read these words FREE GIFT and I'm wondering isn't that redundant? Isn't a GIFT free anyway so it is proper to write Free Gift from Company? Shouldn't I just say "Gift from company"? Thanks!

YEs, technically this is redundant, but it is a very common phrase and now sounds odd if you split them up in this context. A gift is something you get from a friend. A 'free gift' shows that it is a marketing ploy by a company!
