Proper use of articles

I have a sponge, knife and rag in the kitchen. (In this sentence, there's no need for repeating the article, because this is a list of countable, singular nouns.)
I have a hammer, tape measure, bucket, pliers and screwdrivers in the storeroom.
(Does the same apply to this sentence, even though the last two items in the list are in the plural form?)
