Proper titles

If I want to use two titles and both first names when addressing envelopes in the most officially correct way possible, which is correct:

Dr. and Mrs. John and Mary Smith

or

Dr. John and Mrs. Mary Smith

Hi, Only #2 seems acceptabe to me, and barely. I would probably write eg Dr John Smith and Mrs. Mary Smith eg Dr and Mrs.

  • Smith I'd also consider saying simply Mr and Mrs Smith .
  • People who have a doctorate are not going to have a heart attack if you don't always use their title, particularly if it is a social matter.
