proper nouns

A large amount of rubbish takes the pride of place in the city's/City's main square.
Is city here a proper noun: does it have to be capitalised?

I was born in the winter, 1975.
Do I have to capitalize winter? Do I need the definite article there?
I was born in the winter/Winter of 1975. Winter or winter?

Top answer

No, city is not a proper noun here and should be in lower case. No, winter is not a proper noun and does not require capitalization or an article.

Thank you, Mister M.

Which one would you (do you???) favor? A or B

A: I was born on winter of 1975.

B: I was born on the winter of 1975.

Neither.

But B would be ok if you use 'in the winter of...'

Sorry, it was a typo.

Let me ask you, either Mister M or Nona, again. Which one would you favor?

I was born in winter of 1975.

I was born in the winter of 1975.

Hi,

I was born in winter of 1975. No.

I was born in the winter of 1975. You need to say this. It's a very specific reference.

Best wishes, Clive

Once again, B is the only correct version.
