Proper Grammar

Is it proper grammar to state "Bob and I's vacation is going great?" Some of the people writing these statements are actually teachers - it drives me crazy! Has this now become acceptable? If so, when did that happen??

Hi, I've said that, and written it casually, all my life. But I got severely criticized about it by some people on this Forum some time ago. I'm from Northern Ireland.

  • I wonder if it is a regional usage.

"My vacatoin with Bob is going great" seems more comfortable to my ears.

It's probably not technically correct, but strange to say, it sounds better to my ear than the correct version (which may be Bob and my or Bob's and my; I forget). I'd probably wimp out and say Bob and I are on vacation, and [it's / our vacation is] going great.
