I think there is no difference while starting the sentence with --My friend and I-or-I and my friend--

But,,,,as in English grammar there is always a but...... as a kindness you should use -My friend and I and the other is accepted wrong grammatically.So...

Any personal pronoun with "self", I.e "myself", "themselves", etc, "reflects" back to the original personal pronoun in the sentence, and are known as "reflexive" nouns. The correct usage is, for example, HE taught HIMself, THEY caught THEMselves, etc. These should never be used as a standalone subject.
