Obesity has become common and serious issue of modern people, especially children, which need to be tackled. Some have hold governments the responsible for an increasing in obesity among children while others disagree with the notion and point out that parents are responsible. These viewpoints will be discussed before a conclusion is reached.
To start with, governments has brought about children being obese by some actions, needed to be addressed appropriately. First of all, authorising the media to advertise unhealthy foods could result in obesity. Young generations are very impressionable and the attractive and inducing advertisement, which has generally targeted children, has misled them to just eat the advertised products. Additionally, the ubiquity of fast food restaurants has caused families and children to dine primarily in them. McDonald and KFC branches are such restaurants that can be found everywhere. Governments should put some restrictions of establishing fast food restaurants if they like to control the rising number of overweight children.
On the other hand, parents also play a part, having fat children. Nowadays parents are more lenient than the past, allowing their children to eat whatever they like. When they go shopping, they might purchase chocolate, chips or biscuits if their children insist extremely. Modern parents have been engaging in their work to the extent that they have found difficult to take their children regularly to parks or playgrounds. This kind of practice might help children to be involved more in active exercises rather than being a couch potato, playing video games.
In conclusion, I think both governments and parents have brought about an increase in obesity among the future generation by overlooking in issuing an appropriate and firm regulation towards advertising fast foods and by being lenient, respectively.
