Hi, teachers, please help me correct my article if there are any mistakes. Thank you.

Over the decades, the media has promoted the image of young thin women as being ideal. What problems has this caused? what situations can you suggest?

From tall and slim to petite and curvy - and everything in between - women across the globe come in all shapes and sizes. But what actually is the 'ideal female shape'? Recently, the A4 waist and iPhone 6 challenges sparked heated debate in China and garnered many hits in the social media. People who take part in the challenges are almost young women, including many celebrities. The A4 challenge is that social web users post photos holding a piece of A4 paper, measuring 8.27 inches wide, up to their waists and tagging #IHaveAnA4Waist. If they can hide their waists behind the paper, they consider themselves “fit.” Actually, A4 Waist challenge is nothing fresh; iPhone 6 challenge, reverse praying challenge, belly button challenge, balance eggs on collarbones challenge and firm abs challenge have already aroused the public attention last year.

At the prevailing days of being skinny, there is increased number of people going ape over weight loss. In order to keep slim, people usually take various strategies, such as liposuction, diet pills and outright ban on eating. Some people even adopt extreme weight control behaviors such as vomiting and using laxatives. In a survey of 5,000 college students in China, the result shows that nearly 100 students questioned have developed anorexia as they try to copy underweight supermodels or stars.

It is time that our government and social media took effective measures to deal with this problem. Firstly, the governments should impose a ban on super-skinny models because they should be representatives of health not painfully thin. In addition, the mass media should reject over-edited photographs of modals. The purpose of the media is to communicate information to the public. If the mass media keep posting the pictures of over-slim celebrities, people may develop anorexia as they try to copy underweight catwalk or movie stars. Last but not least, people should know that there is not a type of so-call ‘ideal body’ in the world; aesthetic view and standard are vary from culture, nations and time, so we just need to be ourselves, be confident and happy.
