It has been announced that first year university students must live on campus.
Although it would be easy to reject this statement at face value, the issue is a complex one.
Personally speaking, I agree with this statement for the following two reasons.
The first reason for my opinion is related with safety. For many freshmen, they have to leave far away from their homes, to a totally different city or even country.
Living off campus is very dangerous for those students who are not familiar with the surrounding because they can meet various difficulties besides the risk of being deceived.
On contrary, all the schools in China have advanced security facilities and security guards to protect their students. So, I think living on campus is good to first year students.
The other reason is about convenience. There are a wide range of public services in universities, such as libraries, canteens, and stores. Student who live on the campus don’t need to worry about being what to eat or being late because of these convenient facilities.
However, some people who are against of this statement may assert that they will have more freedom living in their own department.
In brief, for the reasons I have outlined above, I l think living on campus is better because it has more advantages than living in a department.
