A complete consideration of people’s views on the society’s need is sometimes difficult to present due to its complexity.
Some people tend to say that society needs more artists while others argue that our society needs more scientists.
When these two views are compared, I think society needs more scientists.
Let’s first look at the advantages of more artists. As far as I am concerned, artists have a great influence on people’s thoughts as well as behavior, or even on their characters.
Positive works which created by artists can encourage and inspire people both mentally and emotionally. For example, when I was a little girl, I was a kind of autistic and I often felt lonely. My mother bought me a piano, and I started to practice Chopin’s works. I was motivated by this great artist, and I became a quiet but confident girl now.
Then, there are the advantages of more scientists. It is not exaggerated at all to say that without scientists and technology, human social would come to a halt. Scientific inventions bring our life a lot of convenience and benefits. For example, airplanes allow people go to further places; computers and Internet make people have access to more knowledge and latest information; all of the household applicants provide us a comfortable and pleasant living environment. In addition, scientists have invented various medicines which help cure sick people, and allow people live longer and more healthful lives.
For the reasons I have provided above, I think scientists have more contribution to our society. Therefore, I assert that our society should need more scientists than artists.
