It is sometimes difficult to discuss whether having a roommate is a good thing because it is such a multifaceted topic. Some people enjoy living with a roommate while others prefer to live alone.
A comparison of these two views indicated that living alone is better.
On the one hand, the major advantage of living with a roommate is safety and company. Living a lone for students like us is very dangerous; besides, living far away from home, it is hard for us to adapt the life without parents. Having a roommate seems to provide you a safe and comfortable environment to study and live.
On the other hand, there are some advantages of living alone, such as quite, privacy, and avoid conflict with different lifestyle.
For example, there had been several roommate murder cases reported in China. In one of these cases, a medical student killed his roommate by poisoning water just because the murderer was jealous of his roommate’s success in scholarship.
I favor the later position over the former because I love quiet environment, and it is hard to keep your privacy if there are someone else in the same room.
