As far as I am concerned, I think fashion has contributed a lot to our society for two key reasons.

The first reason is that fashion plays a significant role in the promotion of culture. Fashion can be considered as an emanation of arts and I think it is also a symbol of modernization and freedom. People only begged for three meals and warm clothes satisfied in the past, let alone to pursue fashion. It is fashion that adds spice to life with its rich color, variety and beauty. The way people dress helps them preserve a sense of their own value and personality. Just think what would this world looks like if people always wear clothes or have haircut of the same style and color?

The second reason is the great business value it brings about.
The fashion industry is an enormous one. It provides a lot of job opportunities which leads to a reduction in growing unemployment. What’s more, fashion industry can also boost a series of related industries, such as cotton farming, wool industry and silk industry. Besides, the imposition of the tax on these industries can be a considerable source of revenue for our government. Therefore, government can spend more money on strengthening public services and environmental protection.

Of course, there may be some people claim that fashion is a waste of time and money.

However, from the reasons I have presented, I believe that my opinion is built on a solid foundation.
