Hi, teachers, please help me correct this article if there are any mistakes. Thank you!

Most artists earn low salaries and should therefore receive funding from the government in order for them to continue with their work.

It has been said that most artists earn low salaries, so it would be reasonable for them to receive funding from the government to continue their work. As far as I am concerned, I agree that artists deserve the financial support which is provided by the government for two important reasons.

Firstly, I acknowledge that the benefit from artists is immense as it could bring about great commercial value. The efforts of artists will certainly boost the national economy by a variety of ways, such as creating music, making films and attracting tourists. For instance, many Chinese teenagers like watching Japanese cartoon and they usually spend a large portion of pocket money on buying anime books and related merchandises. In addition, thousands of teenagers are flowing into Japan to take part in anime exhibitions which encourages the development of service industry and tourism. It is estimated that anime industry in Japan contributes for 2% to the total amount of GDP which makes around 1200 million dollars. I think China anime industry may also achieve huge profitability if our government put some investment to sponsor those artists.

Secondly, some kind of art would be extinct without inheritance. People are undoubtedly more interested in art with greater monetary value; by contrast, those kinds of art which are less attractive will be forgotten. For example, Cantonese Opera is a kind of symbol of Hong Kong. 1920s was the heyday of the Cantonese Opera, but not much people appreciate it nowadays because young people today are much more interested in pop music than classic Cantonese Opera. As the Cantonese Opera actors are aging and the circle is shrinking, Cantonese Opera will consequently disappear without new blood and the support from the government. In order to make Cantonese opera great again, I think our government need to appropriate money to encourage artists to pass this tradition along to the next generations.

In conclusion, the government is supposed to support the artists because it has a lot of benefits for a nation and its citizens.
