Hi, teachers, please help me correct my article if there are any mistakes. Thank you!

Nowadays, there are a lot of students prefer to take a year off for job rather than to head straight for college or university after graduation in high school. Some people assert that it is a good idea while others seem to hold the opposite opinion towards it. From my point of view, I agree with the former position for two important reasons.

Firstly, the majority of students who graduated from high school are over eighteen years old which means that they are mature enough to be independent. Besides, most young people in China are born in the only child family; over-anxious parents usually spoil their only child and make them to be a selfish, self-centered capricious, rude, lack of independence which will hinder the development of a child. Therefore, a year off can be an inevitable opportunity for these overindulged children to brush up on their personalities and the way to get along with others during working with their colleagues.

Secondly, as many students are still very young and do not have much experience in making big life decisions. It is quite common that their parents or other elders have the say about the choice of their major. Meanwhile, we can also find that many students are repentant of wasting precious four years of time to realize that they are not interested in the majors they are in at university, and they could not find an ideal job after graduation from university. So, if students are given a chance to take a year off, they may know themselves better and make a right decision by their own which can assure them a successful life.

In conclusion, from the opinions I have presented above, I believe taking a year off to work before attending university or college has more merits than deficiencies for students.
