Most of contemporary movies or documentaries mirror in some point a story of the ancient literature. In fact, The Lion King, the movie (1994) is known as one of the best modern stories about siblings’ rivalry and family relationship that resembles the Book of Genesis’s story: Cain and Abel. It is been thousands of years and the story of Cain and Abel, the first ever recorded murder in history of the world, remains unsolved with hundreds of myths about the bible first two siblings. Why did Cain kill his brother? What were his reasons? Cain was caught in a moment of jealousy, desperation, and wrath primarily focused toward his brother, Abel. During the offerings, *** had accepted Abel’s offerings over Cain’s and had respected it, and that infuriated Cain who “rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.”(92). The movie illustrates the same plot about two brothers, Mufasa and Scar. Mufasa was the king of the Pride Lands on the onset of the movie. He was savvy, powerful, and mostly respected by his entire kingdom. He had not only that physical power but also and strongly intellectual and spiritual powers used in the movie to give an influential counsel to his son. On the other hand, Scar was the evil side of the story, was the younger brother, envy of Mufasa and surrounded by the hyenas, which in some civilizations symbolized dishonesty, misfortune, and harmful behaviors. Scar, out of jealousy, in a moment of anger, with the purpose of being accepted as a king and gain respect from everybody, plotted a crime that would finish up the life of his brother. Both stories show how emotions can lead to irreparable decisions. One of the most foremost challenges in life is learning how to live in times of misfortune, and that not always our efforts are recognized in a good way. The keyword is understand that unfortunately, life is not always happiness, and we have to learn not to blame others because our doings. Abel and Mufasa symbolize the kindness, a character that one can learn from. Even though the appearance of Abel in Genesis is very brief, he committed himself to *** and offered his finest flock. In contrast, Cain offered not his best. In the movie, Mufasa protected his family in a moment of adversity, and Scar was seen as the unkindness and the laziness. Yet there is no reason to take anyone’s life, a reader can assume some motives that could have led to the tragic end in both stories. Scar felt jealousy and wanted acknowledged as the king of the Pride Lands, the same way Cain wanted the approval of ***. Both wishes were granted to Mufasa and Abel respectively. This incontrollable anger, wrath, and envy led Scar and Cain to commit a murder taking their brother’s lives.
