Proofread my answer please? Is it ok to use "back when" and "racism"

A cartoon published in May 1861. The cartoon is entitled, ‘The American Difficulty’. Lincoln is thinking
to himself, ‘What a nice White House this would be, if it were not for the Blacks!’

Why was this source published in May 1861? Explain your answer using details of the source and

May 1861 were the american revolution back when american were experience some difficulties about building The White House. Since racism was major in that time, so Lincoin named it "White House".
