Proofread a 150-word essay?

Hi, I'm writing a short essay for a scholarship application, but I don't have anyone who can proofread it for me so could you help me with it?

It is titled Justification of the Proposal by the association, and we're required to include why our topics of research go into a certain project area that they ask us to choose.

In my case, I'm hoping to study linguistics, so I've chosen the project area of Issues of Global Society.

I'd like you to review the content and let me know if there're any grammatical mistakes and points that are not convincing.

Thank you in advance.

My proposal falls in the project area of Issues of Global Society because language is an essential factor in globalization. However, there is always a language barrier between typologically distinct languages (e.g. Japanese and English), which makes people feel reluctant to exchange information. Such an obstacle may hinder a nation’s technologies from prevailing abroad. There are many technologies to be proud of in Japan (e.g. the Shinkansen). However, just a few of them can be spotted outside the country. I assume that the linguistic issue is one factor that has created this situation. Therefore, improvements in linguistic theories would lead to a better global environment where people who speak different languages can understand each other more readily. I believe that, if my research succeeds, there will be clearer ideas of how the two languages are different, which may make it easier for language learners to achieve a better understanding of their target languages.

YukiKanda I assume that the linguistic issue is one factor that has created this situation. Do you really think so? Has the language barrier really impeded Japanese technology/products from succeeding abroad?
