Hi, I really appreciate if you proofread my essay. Thanks Emotion: smile

Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?

Learning second language especially in young ages has been proved to be beneficial for brain development. However, there is controversy between experts whether it has to be started in primary school ages or it is better to be put off until the secondary school ages.
Primary school age children are more receptive to new language as their brain is so. Scientists have proved that in primary school age children are still acquiring their mother tongue. Therefore their brain is more flexible and ready to pick up and process a second language. This is one positive point of view from many of them while it also has some disadvantages as well.
Inserting foreign language learning program in primary school curriculum can cause cultural invasion. Without any doubt each language is carrying a part of culture and tradition of its own original society. Because primary school age children have not been familiar enough with their native traditional culture, learning second language in their age can prevent them to pick up their own culture truly. Therefore their original native culture will be diminished gradually in future which is considered as a negative effect on society. Moreover, this can increase mindset difference between children and their parents resulting in more disagreement between them.
In conclusion, although learning second language in younger ages has some good points but considering drawbacks the makes it clear that the disadvantages outweigh its advantages. Based on that I would prefer children to be exposed in learning second language at secondary school rather than primary school to give them more time to know about their own invaluable history, culture and traditions. This also can help to reduce the mindset difference between children and their parents as much as possible so they can understand each other more.

You might also consider that if children are exposed to a language's speech sounds (phonemes) early in life, they will be able to speak a second language without an accent.

I honestly don't understand your concept of "cultural invasion." Basic language skills can be taught in a culture-neutral way. And if the educational materials consist of translations (or transcriptions) of their own

Hi there,

First thank you for your time and feedbacks.
If "cultural invasion" is not a common expression I won't use it any more. But could you please give an idea as disadvantage of learning second language at primary school? I believed the topic is a discussion type essay and I need to express one advantage and one disadvantage and then I have to come up with my own idea in conclusi
