Proof and charity

Dear All,

This will be a double question:

Is proof commonly used as a synonym of test, trial?

And is charity often and normally used meaning mercy?

Please, could help me with these? Thank you!

Hi

It depends on your context - maybe you could give us a sentence as an example

Clemency is more formal and legal

Forgiveness - as yoy suggest - may be a good way of expressing the idea more personally

All right. So, for example, "Very ancient teachings already state that it's the path of mercy which leads to Unity, the Tao, or ***." (And not revenge, or anger, or an underhand attitude, etc.)

It's in such a context that I need to find another term expressing the same. If it's two terms connected with an 'and', that would do as well.

- Identifying with the other being

- understanding their feelings

- acting kindly toward them as if y
