Pronunciation of -ying

As for example in Crying. Would a native speaker ever say /crijing/ with a j pronounced like in 'jingle'.? Are there variants or only non-natives pronounce it that way? .Being a non-native speaker I pronounce it as 'criin' with the first i as in "I" and the second as in "ping" and no "j" sound.

Thanks

No, the ying is not pronounced as jing. You are pronouncing it nearly correctly, with the two 'i' sounds but you do also need to finish off the 'ing' sound and not leave it as 'in'.

0 My dialect lacks final -ing in words of more than two syllables. Thus I use [ n ] instead of -ng, and tense the /I/, thus 'crying' ends in [ in ] ; nothing is [ nVθin ] . Words of one syllable, however such as king [ kIN ] retain the engma, and the /I/ remains lax.0-
