Pronunciation of Thomson

Hi

What is the correct and normal pronunciation of "Thomson"? I say it with /th/ sound as in "thaw". But the following website use phonetics which suggest /t/ sound as in " ta ta". But if you hear the audio, it sounds much like thaw-m-sun. What is your thinking on this? Please let me know. Thanks.

Hey. You made me occur a doubt, so I've checked on the dictionary for you (the mine is webster's college dictionary ): you should pronounce it with the sound /t/. Anyway I'd prefer the classical pronunciation of the sound /th/ (at least in England, in the USA it's different), because when there is a word with this sound I've always heard /th/; anyway, I don't think that somebody would kill ye if it was a mistake Bye, hope this hint helps

No, not /?/. The surname is pronounced /'t?m s?n/. And the audio at that link also uses /'t?m s?n/.

Probably not, but they would certainly know you weren't a native speaker.
