Hi

Would the pronunciation of the word almond with the "l" creep on native ears?

My experience has been that the whole range of strengths of the 'L' sound are in use by native speakers.

I'm sure you don't mean 'creep'. You probably mean 'grate'.

No. Not at all.

In California, we pronounce the "L" distinctly: "All-mund". I've heard that in New England, it's pronounced "amm-und".

Am I to understand that the "d" in your almond is very weak or is it not there at all?

Right. It's hard to assess your own pronunciation and even that of individuals in your dialect group, but, well, there it is.
