Hello, everyone.
I was reviewing my own pronunciation, when I noticed something: In certain situations, I suppress the "R" sound in favor of speed. For example, if I pronounce "rather than" on it's own, the R is pronounced. However, when I pronounce it within a sentence, it sounds something like "ræð? ð?n" instead of "ræð?r ð?n". Similarly, if I were to pronounce a sentence such as "my father's request", I would suppress the R sound, too.
Is that correct, or is it something that should be fixed?
Thanks in advance.
Joaozin Is that correct, or is it something that should be fixed? I never do that here in the Middle Atlantic states. I would venture to say that in any rhotic dialect, those r's should be pronounced.

That makes it sound more like a British pronunciation. If you are trying to acquire an American accent, however, it would be better to pronounce the R.
