Pronunciation of "ʌ" sound

Hi there. Listening to various songs and speeches of native speakers I noticed that they pronounce "?" sound very similar to "?" sound, especially in words "love", "come", "lullaby". Answer please if these sounds are the same? Of course, I mean American pronunciation. Thanks for your answers.

I don't hear them as being particularly close, except possibly when the word love is being drawn out for emphasis.

Those all seem to be the former sound, not the latter. The latter appears in words such as 'caught' and 'awful'.
