Pronunciation of 'read' in an idiom

I've just realised I am not sure about the pronunciation of the word 'read' in the idiom 'take something as read' - do you say it like the basic form of the verb, or like it's its past form?
thanks in advance [Y]

The past participle (and simple past tense) is spelled the same way as the infinitive and the simple present, as you know. The present is pronounced "reed" and the past is pronunced "red."
