Pronunciation of "pummelo"

My hubby (grew up in Malaysia, now in US) pronounces it with accent on "pum" part of word, whereas some US people think it's accented on "lo." Is it necessarily one way or the other or does it vary with the country?

Top answer

" Is it necessarily one way or the other or does it vary with the country? The primary stress is on the first syllable. The final syllable gets secondary stress, of course, because the "o" is long.
