English in Russia

pronunciation of name

My Aleutian grandmother gave me a family name, Raissa, for my daughter. My ancestors were originally from Russia, though when I look up the name I often find it as French. Those sites that have a pronunciation is not the same as my grandmother spoke it. My grandmother is no longer alive to again tell me the pronunciation of Raissa. Is there anyone who can help me? Thank you!

Hi mooslys:

Raissa looks very much like the Russian name Raisa (pronounced as 'rah-EE-sah', ie the second syllable is stressed) to me.
