Pronunciation of 'convenience store'

convenience store

I have learned that when two constants are put together, only one is sounded like summer [s?m?r], and then I was wondering if we have to pronounce two s in -ence and s or only one s is sounded?

What do you native English speakers think? Thank you so much as usual in advance!

I pronounce it with only one 's', perhaps slightly elongated. I find it actually quite hard to pronounce with two distinct 's's at normal speed, and when I do it feels unnatural. I don't think anyone pronounces with two distinct 's's, unless there is a very long pause between the words, such as would not occur in normal speech.

In the US (the poster "GPY" is British), this is pronounced with two s-sounds, and a distinctive break between the two words, so that they are sounded completely separately: con-VEE-nee-ents STOR.

I have American colleagues who do not make a clear break,

I find this hard to believe.
