Pronunciation of "azure"

Hello,
I am a learner of English and I have a doubt about the pronunciation of the word "azure" (the colour)?
All the dictionaries I've checked list /'AZ@(r)/ as the recommended pronunciation but I've asked two English people and they say they'd always say /@'zjo:/ or perhaps /@'Zo:/ or /@'zjU@/ (and permutations) but they wouldn't say or understand /'AZ@/
(/A/ as in "apple", /@/ is schwa, /Z/ as in measure) What do you say? (supposing you say anything at all, I know that's a pretty uncommon word)

  • That is how I say it, and how it is described in the OED (the version which uses alphabetic letters).

Ok, thank you!
By the way, for the sake of exhaustiveness,

Reccomended British RP: /'AZ@/

Except in heraldry: the heraldic colour is pronounced with a long 'a'.

This surprised me, but you're absolutely right.
